On Saturday, 18 November 2017, over forty attendees enjoyed a memorable evening of fun, food, art, education, and camaraderie.  The charity art auction, held at the Holiday Inn Riverwalk, saw over 60 high-quality military art prints auctioned off to support the Museum Foundation’s Capital Campaign.  The prints were donated to the Foundation by the International Hotel Group (IHG) which operates the hotels on Ft Sam Houston as well as the Holiday Inn line of hotels world-wide.  Classic military prints, framed and ready to hang, by renowned artists like Stivers, Summers, Kunstler, and more, went to the highest bidders.  The auction itself was conducted by local auction house owner and expert auctioneer, Robert Vogt, of Vogt Auctions, who graciously provided his time and talents free of charge in support of the Capital Campaign.  After a buffet meal and a chance to mingle, our guest speaker, Dr Jesus F. de la Teja, a distinguished professor of History from Texas State University gave a fascinating talk about the colonial history of San Antonio in recognition of the upcoming city Tricentennial.  Next up, the auction!  Several NCO members of the Audie Murphy Club were on hand to assist in the auction.  Spirited bidding was the order of the evening for a number of the more popular prints.  By evening’s end, a total of over $13,000 had been raised for the prints and several outright donations.  If you missed this outstanding event, several dozen more prints will be sold at Vogt Auction House and through the Museum Gift Shop in the coming months.  Check out more photos at the Photo gallery of this webpage.
